"The Well"
"The Well" is Dwelling At the Well's proposed development for a 5-story, mixed use, residential, in-house facility that is centrally located in one of the 5 communities we serve (Humboldt Park, East Garfield Park, West Garfield Park, North Lawndale, and South Lawndale).

The Main Floor will contain headquarters, reception/waiting room, offices, staff kitchen, staff bathrooms, storage rooms, conference room, private counseling and coaching rooms, a community activity room with a computer lab, and a separate residential prayer/meditation room and laundry room. The other 4 floors will contain residential apartments for women with substance abuse disorders and their House Managers. Each floor will contain 4 bedrooms and 2 full baths (the House Manager will have a private, en suite room with a balcony. The remaining 3 bedrooms and bathroom will be shared, dorm-style with 6-12 women.

"The Well" will be a safe, sober space where women can find the support systems they need to have a lasting recovery. They will have a House Manager who acts as a case worker to help them plan their recovery, set their goals, hold them accountable, and connect them to outside agencies and resources as they are needed. Help will include life style and job readiness training as well as individual, family, and group counseling. The women will be encouraged to self-reflect through a series of guided classes (art, gardening, journaling, dance/movement, poetry, filming), outings (cultural explorations, museum tours, landmarks), and volunteer opportunities (local shelters, senior centers, churches, and community events) designed to help them see themselves, the City, and their futures in a new, more positive light.

Meals and transportation will be provided. The women in residence will be responsible for cooking breakfast, lunch, and dinner and for cleaning/maintaining the house. They'll take charge of their recovery by keeping track of their appointments, treatments, and sessions. All under the caring, nurturing eye of their House Manager who will, more than likely, be someone who has gone through some of the same struggles they have. The goal is to help women do what they believe is in their best interest. Every woman's substance abuse journey is different, but no woman has to suffer alone. "The Well" will be there to advocate for, support, encourage, and assist women struggling with alcohol and other substance abuse disorders.

YOU CAN HELP MAKE THE DREAM OF "THE WELL" A REALITY!
HERE'S HOW:

* Dwelling At the Well is looking for a "good Samaritan" to donate or build the Restoration Home for Women. New construction is amazing, but renovated properties are great, too, as long as they fit or can be converted to fit our needs. We need a double lot or a tract of land with room enough to house an additional 2-4 car garage, 3 storage containers, and a school bus.
* We need a pro bono architect who can meet with us and help bring the vision to life with architectural renderings and blue prints.

* We need investors (secular, individual, corporate) to stand with us and advocate for women with substance abuse disorders by donating permit, construction, maintenance, and upkeep costs.

We ALL win when a woman is restored back
to herself, her family, and her community!
